library patrons, what.

Dear Guy who just returned the red pen to the circulation desk,

I'm certain you did not just say, "Thank you, my love," as you handed me the pen. Because, I don't care if you're gay or asexual or very friendly or whatever, we have never met and that is not okay to say to someone who is merely doing her job.

With a great deal of professional distance,
Sigma

but in the Heathrow aeroport the lady who helped me put my toilette trees in plastic baggies kept calling me "love" and i was charmed.

I dunno, it's different when (a) it's coming from a lady, (b) it's coming from someone visibly older, and (c) it's part of the dialect as a casual endearment. I'd be charmed by a lady in Heathrow, too, but this guy? Not so much.

(i love that you wrote "toilette trees." is this more spain-confusing-your-english? <3)
