The kittens are demanding breakfast ever earlier. Today Ducky was in my face at 6:30. Which I guess is still better than Baxter waking me up at 4 yesterday for no reason at all. But still. (Today I did make them wait until 7:15 before I would actually get out of bed. But they were retaliating by sitting closer and closer to me, thus forcing me further and further into the crevice against the wall. When I finally did get up they effectively had me confined to less than half of my own bed.)

2:1 was harder today than any other time before. I had to take extra walking time in the middle. Plus, my iPOS was all run down this morning so it was just me and the sound of my breath and my feet, which makes it seem so much longer. And then a bird shat on my shoulder.

I feel defeated by my own life.

Also, why do we have a gallon and a half of milk in the fridge? If the old milk is bad, you FUCKING POUR IT OUT, you don't leave it in the fridge. If the old milk is fine, why the fuck would you buy new milk? FUCK I NEED TO LIVE ALONE SO MY HOUSE WILL MAKE SOME FUCKING SENSE.

My new running shoes feel good, though. Plus they are pretty.

Dr. Old (everyone's favourite elderly musicologist -- no, his name is not actually Old) returned to the library today, after being gone all summer, and he leered at me, complete with eyebrow-waggle! -- I was surprised, mostly because I thought the leering was restricted to my more fabulous co-workers, if you know what I mean. His arrival heralded offers of assistance from both of my bosses-who-are-here-today (not Boss, I think she's taking a "vacation" -- in actuality, the furlough days she's accrued), which was hilarious. Dr. Old asked to speak with one of them just minutes after he had told me he'd be upstairs of Dr. Old needed him. He hadn't even had time to get to the staircase. Heh.

---

Um. I may have missed something here -- apparently it is vital to be on Dr. Old's good books? Or at least, Irish Tech Boss told me that being liked by Dr. Old will be the best thing for me. And Newly-In-Charge-Of-Everything Boss is jumping at his requests (though not without much long-suffering sighing and eye-rolling). Okay, he's an important musicologist, I know that. What am I not getting about this situation?

Dear The CW,

What is up with re-launching TV shows from when I was a child in the early 90s -- 90210, Melrose Place? Are there no more good ideas anywhere in the world? Also, what was with the name change a few years back? Your programming was much higher-quality when you still went by The WB.

-----------

Dear Fox,

Glee. Why? Whywhywhy? None of the characters are actual human beings. They all, every single one, embody frightening stereotypes -- overblown shells of people. Plus, as my roommate puts it, "Now everyone will think show choir is full of crazies!" (Not that I'm entirely sure it isn't full of crazies, but still.) The only one with any redeeming qualities is Jayma Mays as the germophobic counsellor, and I think I might like her solely because I loved her character Charlie in Heroes. (Oh btw, what is it with all the actors who were in Heroes that are in this cast?) And why all the cheating? Is there some secret campaign against fidelity and honesty going on behind the scenes? I am terrified of this show and terrified of its apparently positive reception.

P.S. USE LESS AUTO-TUNE. IT PAINS ME.
P.P.S. Wherever did you find Lea Michele? She looks freakishly like Idina Menzel -- so much so that my friend and I spent the entire first episode thinking she was Idina Menzel acting the part of a high-schooler superhumanly believably.
