A Petition about Alan Turing
Sep. 8th, 2009 01:44 pmThe World Turing Petition seeks an apology from the British government for its treatment of brilliant mathematician Alan Turing, who invented the machine that broke Enigma, a code used by the Germans in WWII. He was convicted of gross indecency in 1952, for having a homosexual relationship, and forced to undergo "chemical castration" -- injections of estrogen which were supposed to negate his sexual urges. Two years later, he commited suicide.

moar soapboxing/A Call To Action

Yesterday morning I was talking to Jay (yes, the ex, save your comments) and he had an idea which I think is excellent. We should band together and give a recital (or recitals) at which we accept donations to be sent to Equality California to continue the fight for marriage equality. Jay and I are going to make this happen. I already have a list of interested parties twelve names long. Who else wants in? It's a brand new idea so nothing is nailed down and there are no details to speak of, just that we want this to happen, and I will provide more information as it arrives.
