I've taken this quiz twice now, once before reading the books, and both times it's called me a Tully. Lysa is cray and Edmure's a total failboat, but Cat and Brynden are pretty cool?

1. BUT FIRST! a quiz. tarot )

2. Things I have cooked: cheesy bread, crepes )
Oh, speaking of cooking! That's what I did ALLLL MORNING today. Chocolate chip pancakes, which turned out a little too dry, maybe because I added some cocoa powder and it absorbed the milk? also I didn't measure the flour too painstakingly I guess. AND the little pumpkin my mum gave me was actually a PIE PUMPKIN! And I didn't make a pie with it, but I did scrape it out (with much elbow-grease) and make PUMPKIN MUSH by stirring its innards up with an egg, condensed milk, sugar, and spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves), pouring it into casserole dishes, and sticking it in the oven (no, I didn't measure anything here, either). I tried to roast the seeds (sprinkled half with sugar, half with salt, plus various spices on both sides, including cinnamon, chili powder, ginger, curry powder, and I forget what else) but I ended up burning them to a blackened crisp and setting off the smoke alarm and making the kittens hide under the bed. Oops.

3. Star Trek waffles! Also, I swear I don't hate Flatmate ALL the time. )
I do wonder how these actors feel about having their faces on waffles, and people eating them. I guess it's probably about the same as having their faces all over any other kind of promotional materials or tie-in merchandise or whatever.

4. Downtown LA and the opera costume shop sale: graffiti, a van, and fangirling a professor )

5. Travel fun: my commentary on a packet of peanuts )
I also had some napkins that were pretty great, but I have mislaid them. I really hope I didn't leave them tucked inside Dorian Gray when I returned it to the library :\

6. And some random stuff! YAAAAAY )

COMING UP NEXT: EPIC KITTEN PICTURES POST. (srsly, EPIC.)

BUT FIRST! btw that concert tonight? THIS: )
sigmastolen: (Default)
it opened the window and stuck itself all in the subject and everything. I feel pressured. I don't respond well to pressure. so I changed it.
pushy quiz )
sigmastolen: (Default)
how did it become 2:30?

anyway. quizzes. because it's been a while. )

Anyway, there are several people that I've been supposed to write letters to and haven't. Fail.
Also, I've been lying around in bed super late and neglecting errands and chores (my desk is still empty, and all the stuff that's supposed to be in it in boxes), and it has made me late to work more than once. Fail.
And I've probably been watching Too Much Telly of late... but Torchwood is having a 5-night miniseries event! And we I have some 30 episodes of NCIS unwatched on the DVR (which Flatmate may not know how to use yet but honestly it's not my responsibility to train her in the new technology -- if she lacks the initiative to bloody figure it out or learn from the manual, that's her loss. it's not like it's counterintuitive or anything)! None of which is an excuse for me to get fuck-all done in the evenings as well as the mornings. Fail.
And I talked about social engagements with some people on Sunday/Monday and then I didn't do a thing to make them happen. Fail.

On the other hand, I walked to the DMV on Monday morning and was early to work that afternoon and did my laundry that night. Productivity FTW!
Aaaaaand people keep telling me that my haircut is good. It makes me happy. Cute hair FTW. Even if I can't always figure out what it wants, and I can't really pull off the "vamp" look anymore (it's ded of cute).

It's been a while, hasn't it? Obvs I am very bored in LB. Whoops. But there will be dress shopping!

whoa quizzes )

Whut.

EDIT;; I've had these sitting around for a while... Navel-gazing! Of a sort. As though that isn't what LJ is all about anyway. ) I'm a little dismayed that I had to clean up their HTML. Honestly...

Which Torchwood Character Are You?
Your Result: Ianto Jones

You most resemble the team's composed, sarcastic general support. Passionate but excellent at hiding it under a reserved exterior, you care deeply about people and have a hard time letting go. The downside of keeping such a tight leash on your external emotions is that sometimes you lose control and have to let it all out. Competent and hard-working, you like to be on top of things.

A catchall post. Sort of.

The subject quote is from the dedication of Carl Sagan's book Cosmos, to his wife Anne. There's a really gorgeous interview with her here. This is how I feel about science, you guys. <3

And okay, yeah, the reason I even read that article is because Jay sent it to me. Carl Sagan is basically his religion. Or religion-analogue, more properly.

... The boy writes rock songs about robots. How can I not let his interests rub off on me?

Sure, you deserve one. You helped popularized lolcats from a running gag to an online sensation. Now mainstream media writes asinine columns on this 'phenomenon', students write theses on the topic, programming languages adopt the grammar, and losers write tests about them on dating sites. Now take your cheezburger and never touch the internets again.

...and which lesser Harry Potter character are you?

Congrats! You're Gryffindor alumnus Bill Weasley!

You know you're cool when even the kid who defeated Voldemort thinks so. You have a disposition that attracts people to you as friends and allies. And it's not just your outward appearance - under all your coolness, you're smart enough to be Head Boy/Girl, too.

(Your moment of glory - so far, at least - came in Goblet of Fire when Harry Potter declared your undeniable ponytail-wearing cool factor.)

fuck yes!

Your Score: Katharine Hepburn

You scored 16% grit, 19% wit, 47% flair, and 28% class!

You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.
