1. Ridiculous Dream
This happened perhaps a month ago? Perhaps more? The evening before I had gone to Trader Joe's with a group of friends. Early the next morning, I dreamt I was at a grocery store (more Ralphs-style) with a group of friends. I decided I needed to go get something on my own, so I left the group and went a couple aisles over, to the freezer aisle, which was apparently also the produce aisle -- or at least, it had produce tables running down the center of it. To my dismay, J was there -- working as a stockboy, putting fruit on the tables. Somehow there was an altercation... My sentiments involved "Look how the mighty have fallen" and his included "whatever I don't need you to be happy I have Jill" and Jill was there and it was infuriating and I ended up (a) punching him in the face and (b) throwing a very spiky miniature pineapple at him. I'm not sure it was healthy. But fruit to the head is, so I'm sharing! Yay!
1a. In other news, he was in a recital I went to recently and I didn't care. (Smug S is smug.) My friend A gave him the evil eye for a while, though. <3 Also: He's still mediocre at what he does. Whoops.

2. The Tale of Shoe-Boy
This one is more fun. It happened several weeks ago. One of the boys that I have been mildly crazy about lately (in this strange bout of boy-craziness that I've been going through) is a gorgeous composer (we'll call him E) who transferred to here recently -- either this quarter or last, since I hadn't ever seen him before 2009. Anyway, we were both in the contemporary chamber music ensemble, and there was one large-ensemble piece that we were both playing in. One afternoon, I was going to have to miss the large-ensemble piece because I was supposed to play in another composer's recital, which was at the same time. I was in a Big Hurry because I thought I was going to be late, so I changed clothes and ran upstairs without tying my peep-toe Oxford pumps. These are some seriously hot shoes, btw. Z hadn't seen them before, and commented, "Those are nice shoes! They look a little weird, though." To which I responded, "It's because I haven't tied them yet." I had my arms full of bassoon and bassoon case and sheet music, and I was planning not to even try until I put all my stuff down in the green room. But. E offered, I assumed jokingly, to tie my shoes for me. So I, also jokingly, extended my foot imperiously. And then he proceeded to tie my shoes, despite my protests. And it was horiffically awkward. (And yeah, also a little bit hot.) So I made a crack about feeling six-years-old and he said something about being a summer camp counselor and then I ran away to put my stuff down somewhere.

As it turns out, he has a girlfriend, which I kind of expected because no boy that gorgeous is still single. He still behaves rather flirtatiously, though, so I don't know how to react. More importantly, though, he lists The Silmarillion as one of his favourite books on Facebook, so maybe we can be nerdy best friends? I'd dig that.

3. Bonus!! Not a story, but more on shoes... The ones pictured above, I bought at DSW; they are the Rileigh by Madden Girl. And these are my awesome boots. They are the Chaingang by Rocket Dog. Shoes are awesome. (christ, when did i turn into a girl?)

How can you not love shoes?! It's so hard to find exactly what you want, but then when you do it feels so good!

Steve Madden makes some great shoes, lady. :D
