school. w00t.
Sep. 29th, 2006 07:16 pmso. it's only the second day of school and already i spent part of the morning napping in the lobby of schoenberg. yaaay, tired! school is definitely in.
( on classes )
once i get enrolled in everything, i think i'll have something ridiculous like 28 units (over-achiever much?) ... the big classes are theory, history, conducting, physics, and calc; the 2-uniters are lessons, bnad, wind ensemble, and orchestra (whichever one i get into. assuming i make either one this year, which is probable i think since my audition this year was far far better than last year's and also i've played for neal & dan now).
my teacher this year is john steinmetz, who plays first in the LA Opera and also does studio work and teaches at CSU Fullerton. my mom asked john (campbell) about him, and she said he likes him, and thinks i will, too, which is definitely cool; i'm pretty excited. he e-mailed us about setting up our first lessons on wednesday, and i think we're kind of intended to communally decide on who is going to go when, but so far only two of us have actually replied to the e-mail (myself included) and i'm kind of getting antsy about it, since there's really only one-and-a-half time slots that i can do... my schedule is insanely tight this year. i barely managed to squeeze in shortish lunch/practise breaks, and not even that on tuesdays, which will go (if i make philharmonia) straight from nine to seven with only ten-minute breaks to dash between classes. Luckily that's the day I don't have math at eight. still, it's not much. i'm not sure how much practise time i'll actually be able to get in yet, which is a little bit scary. it'll be scarier when i actually have shit to practise, and my drive to actually do so ebbs. i mean, there's always at night... but i also have homework that i'll need to do then... and having a life might be nice, since i have all these new friends in bnad... *bites lip* I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
But!!! tomorrow is my first football game and i am SO EXCITED. I even get to march this one ( insert band ramble here ) Also. White Dinkles!! hee. i think bnad might be my current favourite class. is that sad?
anyway, um, yeah. now i should start homework, i guess, since that's why i decided not to go to the women's volleyball game tonight and bond with bnad people. yeah.
