My adventure with Paula!

first: doesn't the word adventure make everything better? it automatically implies fun! (and, as greg reminded me this morning, "prelude to a mysterious adventure!")
so, after wind ensemble (and crashing & burning through bits of stravinsky with thomas, in which we had an awkward discussion of "you sound good" protocol), i was just going to go back to my dorm & chill, eat, do homework for a few hours until the horn studio recital at eight. on my way out, i ran into paula, who asked if i wanted to go to "a museum" with her. when i found out she meant the "Ashes and Snow" nomadic museum mabob, i was all for it -- i've wanted to go see it since january. and so, circa five o'clock this evening, i found myself on a bus to the santa monica pier. we thought, "of course we'll be back by eight!" (of course, then we were sort of not, and i missed most of the horn concert (i arrived just after they started the first piece after intermission, around nine... oops... but the horns don't need to know that)
anyway. hanging out with paula was cool, and we were entertained by various things on the way... the actual show was An Experience. i seriously could have spent hours in there, captivated by the films, the pictures, the music, the nomadic museum itself... everything. it was so.... zen, for lack of a less trite word. the atmosphere was very... *shrug* Paula called it trippy, which is true in a way. she said she could meditate in there, and that she felt relaxed afterwards... part of me really wants to buy the books of photos, and the novel of the 365 letters... except they were grossly expensive. it was just. so amazing. i'm sad that i waited so long to go see it, because now i don't have time to go back & watch the entire film (we only watched a little bit of it because we were trying to get back in time for concert...)
the horn concert was really good, too.
i am so tired, and my classy!boots gave me a fun blood blister yesterday so my foot hurts... but sonja shared some berry pie with me & now i "get" to do listening! (this is me being positive)
in other news, i sometimes talk to myself in italian now (depending on how sophisticated the things i want to say are). it makes me look like even more of a crazy than usual.
