![]() | If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Dmitri Shostakovich! I am a shy, nervous, unassuming, fidgety, and stuttery little person who began composing the same year I started music lessons of any sort. I wrote the first of my fifteen symphonies at age 18, and my second opera, "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District," when I was only 26. Unfortunately, Stalin hated the opera, and put me on the Enemy Of The People List for life. I nevertheless kept composing the works I wanted to write in private; some of my vocal cycles and 15 string quartets mock the Soviet System in notes. And I somehow was NOT killed in the process! And Harry Potter(c) stole my glasses and broke them! Who would you be? Dead Russian Composer Personality Test |
that rocks hardcore.... i mean, just the concept makes me really happy. & shosty's no slouch, eh?
in other news, sonja went home to go to prom with one of her friends who is a high school senior, and my room is all empty and lonely.
and i'm starting to regret agreeing to play contra, because i'm starting to be pigeonholed as The Contra Player.... i mean, i like contra and all, and i like making fun of it even more, but.... i want to play normal bassoon sometimes... you know?
& um... yeah. today in english i got to be (a) Morpheus (getting into character was so hard... especially since i haven't seen The Matrix in forever...) and (b) T-Rex (from dinosaur comics! OMG YAY)! it was fun. this is such an amazing seminar. and our assignment for this week is to read Alice in Wonderland (the first six chapters, yo). i'm so pleased with this class.
today i was thinking about red and blue as school colours... you know, together. that's los al, right? i think that's the only school i've heard of that combines the two. and it's kind of an awkward colour combination, when you think about it. i don't really know what led to that, but there you have it.
also, i got a really cute ring today from one of the random bazaars outside lou valle commons. sterling silver, $10, and it has FISHIES on it. !!! it makes me really happy. although the fins are sharp and scratchy and i have to be careful. & apparently i'm fixing to have another ring tan. i'm really kind of sad that the ring tan on my pinkie is coming back; i got rid of it at some point and i was glad.
there's a part of me that wants to get a wristwatch. i haven't worn a wristwatch in ages, and i'm glad not to have a watch tan or anything obstructing the range of motion of my wrist.... but i was thinking about my last watch, and watchbands, and those spring-pins that attach the watchband to the face of the watch, and how i used to fix mine using only my fingernails as tools.... and it occurred to me that i kind of want a wristwatch.
yeah. i'm definitely rambling now. can you tell i'm really tired? i can! but anyway. shosty, yo. & i can still quote x-men (the movie) on command. go me.
