I LOVE BOOKS (!!!!!!!!!!1!!!11eleven)
Apr. 29th, 2006 10:38 pmOn Saturdays, Schoenberg closes at ten. [scene: There I am, sitting in my crappy little practise room in the corner, switching reeds and about to begin working on the Kozeluch, when the CSO knocks on the door. I lean over and open it.
CSO: Hey. You do know we're closed, right?
me: Oh!
CSO: Yeah, we closed about ten minutes ago.
me: Oh... thanks.
He leaves. I pack up dispiritedly.] I totally could have gone for another hour. I was so in the zone! Don't you hate the way you never seem to get as much as you planned/intended to done? Gods damn.
In other news, I crawled the LA Times Festival of Books today. It's SO AWESOME. It kind of reminds me of Picnic Day, or Whole Earth, except with lots and lots of books & denizens of Los Angeles instead of Davis-ites and hippies (redundant?). I bought subversive anarchist comic books! By which I mean, of course, Alan Moore's V for Vendetta and Watchmen. Yay! That was at the "comics books/books with pictures" tent... I was tempted by some X-Men compilations there, as well. Maybe tomorrow. And then I wended my way through very crowded tents of books without pictures, as well... Didn't get any of those today, though; I was kind of overwhelmed by the crowds and the sheer volume of, well, volumes. Tomorrow I shall restrict myself to the "no more than 5 dollars + tax" tents and buy something, I think. Actually, tomorrow my aunt, uncle, and cousin might come (contingent on whether they decide to ditch some kid's birthday party; they've had the tickets for some Ticketed Events (probably panel discussions or interviews) for a long time, but the kid's mom is insisting that they "have to come to Mason's party," which I think is kind of bitchy of her -- I mean, sure, Doug is a pretty close friend of the kid, but they got the tickets long before she planned the party) & have asked if I wanted to come with them to the events (for some reason they have four tickets, but there are only three of them), so that'd be a lot of fun.
MALIA. I'm sorry I didn't call. I want to Talk with you, but it's difficult to find a suitable place & block of time. Perhaps tomorrow morning? (The irony of this is that you almost assuredly will not read it before tomorrow, probably not even before next weekend. But eh.)
p.s. I LOVE BOOKS
